Everyone should have the same chance to live a safe, successful, and meaningful life, but inequality still has a impact on millions of people all over the world. The Sustainable Development Goal 10 (SDG 10), which was introduced by the United Nations, is intended to reduce inequality both within and between countries. This goal is about building a society in which each individual, no matter what their background, income, gender, age, disability, or social status is, has equal access to opportunities and can take full part in society. Inequality is not merely a matter of differences in income or wealth; it is also evident in people's access to education, healthcare, employment, technology, financial resources, housing, and social opportunities. For instance, children coming from low-income families often do not have the same access to good education, digital resources, and learning opportunities as do children from wealthy families. In a similar way, people with disabilities may encounter obstacles when seeking employment or when using public facilities. These kinds of inequalities can stop individuals from developing their capabilities and from reaching their goals. The aim of SDG 10 is to promote social, economic and political inclusion for all. A key objective of it is to improve the income and standard of living of the poorest 40 per cent of the population. It also urges governments to draw up policies which reduce discrimination and ensure equal opportunities. The goal goes beyond merely giving support to disadvantaged groups and is also about establishing systems in which people can take part, make contributions and advance with dignity. It is especially important to reduce inequality in India since the country shows great variations in income, education, employment, healthcare, and access to basic services. Even though there have been some advances in various fields, many people still encounter difficulties due to poverty, a lack of awareness, scarce resources, or social obstacles. In order to help disadvantaged groups, the government has launched a number of initiatives, including scholarships, skill-development programmes, financial inclusion schemes, and welfare programmes. Yet having introduced these programmes alone is not sufficient; people have to be made aware of them, need to understand how to apply for them, and must be able to access the benefits without facing unnecessary difficulties. Education has a great deal to do with reducing inequality. By providing people with knowledge, skills, confidence and better job opportunities, quality education makes a difference. Educational institutions can help by setting up inclusive environments in which all students have a fair opportunity to take part, to express their opinions, to develop their talents and to make use of available resources. Moreover, both teachers and students can promote respect and a sense of understanding between people coming from different social and economic backgrounds. Technology is also now a significant factor in promoting equality in the world today. It enables people to acquire new skills, secure employment, gain access to financial services, and connect with information. On the other hand, the digital divide may result in a new kind of inequality among those who do not have smartphones, computers, reliable internet connections, or the necessary skills to use technology. It is therefore essential to improve digital literacy and ensure affordable access to technology if equal opportunities are to be created. Young people can likewise make a meaningful contribution to the reduction of inequality. This can be done through simple actions such as showing respect towards people from different backgrounds, opposing discrimination, raising awareness, volunteering and helping others to gain access to educational and career opportunities. It is possible for young people to make use of social media and other digital platforms to spread positive messages concerning inclusion and equality. When small individual actions are combined together they can lead to greater social change. It doesn't follow that everybody has to have the same income, lifestyle, or circumstances when inequality is reduced. What it does mean is that everyone should have a fair opportunity to improve their lives. A person's economic situation, their family background, gender, disability, or social circumstances should not determine the achievements they can make. Equality is about eliminating unfair obstacles and providing opportunities according to a person's ability, effort, and potential. Businesses and organizations also have an important role to play; they can promote fair employment practices, offer equal opportunities, support diversity, and make sure that their workplaces are safe and inclusive. Governments can improve the policies and social protection systems, and communities can encourage cooperation and provide support for vulnerable groups. Only when the various parts of society work together does the reduction of inequality become a shared responsibility rather than something that solely falls to one institution. To sum up, SDG 10 stands for a world in which no one is left behind. In order to reduce inequality, governments, educational institutions, businesses, organisations, communities and individuals all have to make continuous efforts. If we promote fairness, inclusion, awareness and equal access to opportunities, we will be able to build a society in which every person has the freedom and support needed to develop their potential. Not only is a more equal society better for individuals but it also helps to achieve social stability, economic growth, peace and a sustainable future. In the end, reducing inequality means making sure that every person has a fair opportunity to learn, to grow, to take part and to succeed.
